Restoration

Restoring antique instruments has been a major part of Michael Cole's work for many years. Clients include The National Trust, Oxford University’s Faculty of Music, and many private collectors and musicians. The aim in restoring antique instruments is to conserve as much as possible of the instrument’s original structure and materials. All repairs are made using the original methods and the closest possible approximations to original materials.
Some of the early keyboard instruments restored in the workshop are shown below to give an idea of the wide variety.
